The versions of the book
The rule this site is built on: the repository holds the official versions; the vault holds the working versions. A version moves from the vault into the repository when it is signed off, on top of the one before, and this page shows the delta between every two versions, block by block and word by word. There is one version so far.

The table and the deltas are computed by the newsroom's page_versions.py (newsroom v0.12.113), copied into admin/build/ as the brief asked rather than rewritten. Each version is frozen as one markdown file by the release that made it and never rewritten; the frozen file for v1.0.0 is v1.0.0.md, 31,097 words in 1,106 blocks: the book as published, the 28 chapters of the print PDF (139 pages, sha256 6accc25c0c8b…) and the Leanpub build. The drafts the build left out are not part of any version; they are kept as v1/book/drafts.md and shown on their own page.

Where v1.0.0 comes from
- The repository DinisCruz/Book_Generation_Z_Developer at commit
61886444fe5a(1 March 2024, a README change; the content was last changed in October 2018). Itscontent/folder is copied verbatim to v1/content/ and itsstatic/images/to v1/images/: 138 markdown files, of which the Hugo layouts published the 28 markedstatus: content; 90 are outlines and the rest drafts. - The print-ready PDF, v1/generation-z-print-ready.pdf: 139 pages, the Leanpub build of 8 October 2018 made print-ready for the paperback, supplied by Dinis on 18 October 2026. Its table of contents is the published book's, and is kept as data in
admin/content/book/print-toc.json. - Leanpub: "Key concepts and ideas for the next generation of developers", 60% complete, 136 pages, 30,695 words, last updated 8 October 2018, 465 readers (read 18 October 2026). The Leanpub build left the drafts and outlines out, as the print edition did; this site shows them apart from the book, because the second edition starts from them.
- Amazon: Gen Z Developers, the paperback: 139 pages, published 30 September 2018, ISBN-10 1724194607, the early-release cover of September 2018 with its eight lines. That publication date is the date of v1.0.0; 8 October 2018 is the last change to the text, on Leanpub and in the repository.

As the book's own _manuscript/change-log.md records it. The contributors it names are to be credited in the second edition, with their permission.

The licence
The repository's licence file is Apache 2.0 (kept as v1/LICENSE-2018-repository.txt). The book's Introduction says Creative Commons Attribution 4.0; its footer says Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0; the printed cover carries the CC BY mark. The build brief says to treat the text as CC BY and confirm with Dinis. Until that is settled, the 2018 text on this site is shown under the licence the book itself declares, and the question is open on the team's board.
