One loop

For ch. 41, How this book was made, and what you made · proposal read-comment-decide-loop in the plan

A loop of four steps around a centre that reads: small finished pieces beat one big review. One, I read an item. Two, I say what I think, in my own words. Three, I pick a verb from a short list: keep, fix, rewrite, merge, cut, article first, later, not doing it. Four, the editor records my comment word for word, turns the verb into a change in the working copy in the vault, and says where it went.

What it is for

The process is a loop inside a loop, which prose spreads over several sections; drawn, the reader sees the whole method at once.

How it is made

Drawn by admin/build/infographic_svg.py from admin/content/infographics/drawn/read-comment-decide-loop.json, as a cycle. Change the data and rebuild; the picture follows. It keeps the book's colours in every theme of this site, because it is a printed picture: the same file goes into the PDF.

Checked against the source

Every line below is on the drawing or behind it, and the build found each one word for word in v2/content/10-how-this-book-was-made/41__how-this-book-was-made.md. A line changed in the chapter and not here stops the release.
